Big Broom gets a remix, Suckers play Knitting Factory, The Drums share their teenage faves

RACES just released a sweet remix of “Big Broom” by Robert Delong! Download the free mp3 of it at their site. Their video for the song is playing to your left. Check them out when they go on tour down to SXSW. The band recently performed a Green Couch Session which is now up, as is the behind the scenes footage.
The Village Voice caught Suckers recent show at The Knitting Factory and filed this report on it. We’re you the one overheard saying they don’t like beer at shows? Let us know, we’ll talk some sense into you.
The Drums, once again, gave another fab interview down under, this time with Triple J about tunes from their teenage years.

The Drums Visiomento and Hollow on Pitchfork

The Drums are a really, really, ridiculously good looking band- but that’s only one of the many reasons we’re really, really, ridiculously excited to announce their new web series “Visiomento”, where they’ll be sharing live in studio performances, interviews, special guests, and more- the first episode was just released yesterday and features a black and white performance of “What You Were” (a song of their upcoming album “Portamento” coming out on September 6th!).
Drums Update on July 26, 2011

Drum roll, pleeeeeease! Wait, screw it, we’re going to move right on to the main event of instrumental proportions… The Drums! We are so excited about The Drums that capital letters, boldface, underlining, and even italics can’t adequately convey it. And thank goodness we only have to wait until September 13th for their second album Portamento to drop. You can already preorder the LP and the CD at Insound! My poor nailbuds wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer. Singer Jonny Pierce said, “The new album, it’s like every song is a scene from real life. I think from beginning to end it’s sort of autobiographical for me.” To get us through the long, lonely weeks before Portamento’s release, The Drums were kind enough to release the music video for the single “Money” (which you can watch to the left of you). In addition, they’re kicking off a fall tour starting at Lollapalooza so be sure to check them out if you’re blowing The Windy City’s way on August 6th. We highly recommend doing so, along with an exercise and a well-balanced diet, it’s the single best thing you can do to improve your health. The Drums, saving lives on song at a time.

Head on over to Dazed Digital, to read about and watch a new live session video by The Antlers and Nicole Atkins. They recorded an awesome version of “Hounds” in the Antlers’ studio! Well worth the click.

July 5, 2011 Update

So much time and so little to do!
...Wait, go back, reverse that.

Over the holiday 1,2,3 hosted a kickin’ album release party in their Pittsburgh hometown, making The Post-Gazette pretty chuffed to call them their own (and The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review cracked the case of their name choice!). If you couldn’t make it to the Friday show, never fear! Their single “Work” off of “New Heaven” is going to be featured on MTV’s Teen Wolf THIS MONDAY at 10PM! Now that’s something to howl about. In other weekend news, over 10,000 fab fans came out to San Francisco to watch The Dodos (with Neko!) play- thanks guys! It always makes us happy to know that we could build a fair-sized army out of you all.

Suckers just came out with some new September tour dates with Mates of State which we added to our website for your stalking pleasure. Click away, young ones! Also on our site, we’re please to have The Antlers’ hot-off-the-press new 180 gram pressing of “Burst Apart” available in the boutique, and we know that you want as many grams as possible of lush audio quality when it comes to these guys.

And finally, Frenchkiss put together a little sampler together for Amazon. It’s called “Battles of the Squid-Faces Massacre Men” and it’s free- need we say more?

News on June 30, 2011

Oh boy, oh man, oh great-twice-removed grandfather, have we some news for you!

1,2,3‘s tour with Givers and Pepper Rabbit has begun and is off to a smashing start. And patriotic young chaps they’ve decided to throw an album release party during the Fourth of July weekend (TOMORROW 7/1!!) at The Shop in their hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. It goes down at 8PM and is guaranteed to be a must-attend-if-you’re-in-a-thousand-mile-radius event.

If you’re on the west coast and thinking “What gives? We want some of that Frenchkiss action!”, your concerns have been addressed via The Dodos. They’re going to play at the Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco, CA this Sunday with Neko Case at 2PM. You’ve got three days to stock up on that sunblock and practice your fangirl scream, so get on that!

Remember when The Antlers teamed up with Neon Indian for an amazing jam sesh? Well, they’re collabing it up again, this time with Bear In Heaven for a 20 minute version of “Parentheses” which we like to refer to as a 20 minute eargasm- it’s that good. Jay-Z’s site Life & Times agreed and was the lucky duck who premiered it. SPACE JAM 2011 (minus Michael Jordan, plus the lushest tunes around).

If you don’t want to bear the elements and stay in the comforts of cyberland, we’ve got some new videos to the left of this blurb featuring The Antlers on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (!!!), their music video for “Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out”, and 1,2,3‘s video for “Work”. We suggest opening three webpages at once so you don’t have to choose which one to watch first.

And last but not least, new tour dates for The Antlers, The Dodos, and 1,2,3 are located in the touring section for your stalking pleasure.

The Antlers on Leno

Our lovely Antlers have flown off to LA this week for their performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (6/23 at 11:30PM EST)! The big day has finally come, and I don’t know if our teeth are going to fall out, but we’ve prepared for the inevitable jaw dropping. June 23 has always been a stellar day in history (first SAT test, yay!), and The Antlers are only going to add to its prestige- we have people on hand to update Wikipedia pages and everything.

In between tanning and sound checks, we’ve asked them to re-arrange the letters of the Hollywood sign to say “HOLD OWL, YO” in return for us announcing their upcoming tour. So here goes: after a short recharging break our favorite bony appendages are going to be touring this fall, to a town (hopefully!) near you with Explosions in the Sky, including Austin City Limits! The only question now is, what’s their combined name going to be? Antlers in the Sky? Explosions in the Antler? BEST LINE UP EVER?!

UPDATE: Today’s like Christmas, so many treats! Cut Off Your Hands’ EP is available FO FREE here! We’re as happy as can be, and all that we ask in return is that you put it on repeat as much as possible and love it as much as we do (not that we really need to tell you to…).

SXSW Recap

SXSW came to a close this weekend, and we’re still recovering from the aftershock of so many rad acts. We thought our boys The Antlers, The Dodos, Young Man, and 1,2,3 represented us well, and the New York Times agreed. One of The Dodos’ concerts is up on Spinner- just because you missed out on the sunshine and ten gallon hats of Austin doesn’t mean you can’t sit back and catch the tunes. An Antlers concert is also up on NPR’s site where they play their songs off their unreleased second album Burst Apart! We’re bursting apart in anticipation of its release and this performance only further whet our appetites. Mmmmm. But which to listen to first? Decisions, decisions.

In exchange for a few personal details (name, email, postal – voilà!), prospective remixers can download stems for Manor standouts “Wide Eyes,” “World News,” “Camera Talk,” and “Who Knows Who Cares.” And that’s just the first batch – more will be uploaded later this summer. Artists and fans can submit their re-envisioned track and the best will show up on the player for the world to listen to. Labelmates and recent touring partners Suckers have donated their remix of “Wide Eyes” as the inaugural submission. Download Stems and Remix Local Natives now!

Warp Films and ATP have programmed a unique UK cinematic/live tour of ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES screening together with our own Les Savy Fav plus a DJ set by ATP founder Barry Hogan, from 23 October 2009, prior to the DVD release on 2 November 2009. ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES is described as “a rousing, kaleidoscopic celebration of the seaside indie-rock festival” and together with Les Savy Fav’s antics, audiences will experience what happens when experimental film and music collide in these one off special events. The ‘one night only’ theatrical tour, with Les Savy Fav, will visit Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and London from Oct 23 – 28, with special events also taking place in Brighton, Bristol and Hull.

UK LIVE/THEATRICAL TOUR:
Fri Oct 23 – Manchester Deaf Institute
Sat Oct 24 – Glasgow ABC 2
Mon Oct 26 – London Forum
Tue Oct 27 – Leeds TJ’s Woodhouse Club

ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES is a kaleidoscopic journey into the parallel musical universe of the cult music festival of the same name. The film is a semi-found multi media bricolage shot by over two hundred filmmakers, fans and musicians over the festival’s recent history, with key contributions from co-director Jonathan Caouette (Tarnation) and cinematographer Vincent Moon (The Take Away Shows, Arcade Fire) and features amongst others: Belle And Sebastian, Grizzly Bear, Sonic Youth, Battles, Portishead, Daniel Johnston, Grinderman, David Cross, Animal Collective, The Boredoms, Les Savy Fav, Mogwai, Slint, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Gossip, GZA, Seasick Steve, Iggy and the Stooges, F**k Buttons, Shellac, Patti Smith and John Cooper Clark. The film is co-developed and financed by the Warp X partners, Film4, UK Film Council, EM Media and Screen Yorkshire…..

The film will be released on DVD and download from November 2nd, with pre-orders will be available online from www.ourtrueintent.com

LiveDaily Videos

Check out these awesome videos LiveDaily made with The Dodos. They used one of those old fashiony 70’s cameras to film it. You know the ones with the grainy effects. Well, they shot some footage of the Dodos being Dodos and they spliced it with live video of them performing four songs. It’s really cool, the colors are awesome.Have a look!
